Child Support We Are Father’s Not Criminals (Sarasota/Bradenton)
AVNETNEWS – Reprint from Craigslist 4-3-2015
One can only handle so much! I want to bring my, unfortunate, experience to light in hope for Child Support reforms. In my case, I have a 19 year old daughter in college. I, the father, raised her by myself. Her mother would go years without calling our daughter to say hello, she was completely absent from her life.
She didn’t waste time in putting me on child support. So here I was, a father, taking care of his daughter alone ( with the help of my mother ) and on child support. I could not work cause they would try to garnish my wages. I had my license suspended cause of child support and would take my daughter to school with a suspended license. And yet, her mother wasn’t involved in her life. She did promise if I ever left her she would make my life a living hell, mission accomplished!
I went to the clerk of the circuit court almost on a yearly basis. Back then, even the clerks that work at the circuit court attest to this, it was virtually impossible for a father to have legal custody of their children. The system only see’s black and white. It didn’t help that her mom was a pathological liar in court. She would say I was abusive, and that was the end of that. I recently went to court for back child support and was order to pay $1,000 dollars in 30 days and I’m currently not working. I lashed back and filed documents for a review, to which I didn’t receive the opportunity for a court date, and instead was order to pay or face incarceration! So you get my drift! When I go to court they ask why I didn’t pay child support to which I answer the same answer, because my daughter was with me. They say it’s an excuse which I say is a fact. Again they only see black and white. This is the words recently from the clerk at the circuit court, “you’ve filed something ever year since your divorce to no avail!” Looking at my records, you’ll see my attempts to prove my daughter was with me, but since I had no money, no attorney, I was always denied, or told I filed the wrong documents. The clerk employee’s gave me legal advise telling me what to fill out only to find out it was the wrong forms. They are not allowed to give legal advise because they are acting as a legal attorney which is illegal! Yet they would give me legal advise and I even have proof of it in the form of an email I received from the employee at the clerks office with the email registered to her from the court. Yet, no attorney picks it up, but you can sue for hot coffee!I need help! I can’t afford this anymore, I have a 3 year old and she’s ruining our lives again. My 3 year old is suffering this, and I stood up like a man and raised my child only to be condemned. She attended ballet, gymnastics, and was in honor roll. We man can do a hell of a job too.Is there an attorney that can help without charging an outrageous price? Do other victims want to come forward and picket outside the court house? I’m trying to get a radio station involved. Any help would be appreciated.
As the heading states, we are fathers not criminals. Being a father and not paying child support is worse than a D.U.I. You can go to jail, get your license suspended, and in my case have to pay for a child in your own custody. They take it a little further than a D.U.I, it goes on your credit report if you don’t pay!
Thanks for reading, and I know we all have to carry our crosses. I have been blessed and very fortunately in many other faucets of my life. More importantly, I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to raise this beautiful child on my own ( my mom helped immensely)!
